The Head of Public Relations of the OKU Police, AKP Syafaruddin in Baturaja, said the two suspects who were arrested were the initials AS (33) and S (50) residents of Baturaja City, OKU Regency.
The disclosure of this case was based on reports from the public who informed them of the stockpiling of fuel at a number of public fuel filling stations (BBM) in the local area.
The two suspects carried out hoarding actions with the mode of refueling diesel type fuel repeatedly at several gas stations using one minibus vehicle and a dump truck.
“They have been refueling at several gas stations since four days ago before being arrested,” he explained.
The perpetrators filled up using tanks without modification and changed the vehicle number plates to trick the gas station officers.
After receiving subsidized fuel, the perpetrators take the vehicle to a storage area in the home garage and move the fuel into jerry cans to be sold at a high price.
From the suspect’s hands, the police secured evidence of one blue truck BG 8085 F and one Toyota Kijang Inova Silver BG 893 PM, 20 jerry cans containing 650 liters of subsidized diesel fuel, one 1.5 meter long hose and a purchase receipt. Fuel at the Air Karang gas station, OKU Regency.
The suspect will be charged with Article 55 in conjunction with Article 53 Letter (c) of Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas which has been amended in paragraph 5 of Article 40 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 11 of 2022 concerning Job Creation with a penalty of imprisonment for six years and a maximum fine.
