Suara.com – Saudi Arabia plans to build what looks like a huge mirror wall in desert.
Saudi Arabia has a lot of money, and the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), has a lot of ambition.
To leave his mark on the world, MBS plans to develop a large city in the desert called Neom.
Neom will incorporate just about any futuristic technology you can think of, from the simply ambitious (like vertical farming and cloud seeding) to fantastical sci-fi.
All of them have been harshly criticized, with reports revealing problems from massive overspending to the oppressive treatment of local tribes.
But MBS has reportedly declared the project “my pyramid”, and work continues.
The latest touch is the newly revealed design for The Line: a “vertical city” about 500 meters high, 170 kilometers long, and covered in mirrors.
As launched on the page The VergeWednesday (27/7/2022), although it looks like a wall, The Line actually consists of two large parallel buildings.
Connected by footpaths and divided into neighborhoods, which should offer all the amenities of city life within a five-minute walk.
The Wall Street Journal has some additional details about the project based on internal documents.
