Merdeka.com – The Executive Director of the Reforminer Institute, Komaidi Notonegoro said the rejection of the price increase BBM the same as defending the rich. This was conveyed by Komaidi in a public discussion agenda held by the Indonesian Millennial Movers (PMI), at Fifo Resto and Cafe, Situ Gintung, Ciputat, South Tangerang, on Tuesday (14/9).

The reason Komaidi said that rejecting the increase in fuel prices is the same as defending the rich because the users of pertalite type fuel are dominated by wealthy people.

“Regarding the rejection of the increase in fuel prices, it is the same as an effort to defend the rich, because the users of pertalite type fuel are generally dominated by wealthy people,” he explained when giving a statement on (11/13).

Komaidi conveyed that related to data on users of subsidized fuel, 70% of users are four-wheeled owners. While the 2nd wheel is only 30% of its users. And overall its users are dominated by rich people

“Accumulatively, pertalite users are dominated by rich people. The calculation shows that 70% of users of subsidized fuel are owners of four wheels. Meanwhile, only 30% of 2-wheelers are,” he added.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, Komaidi also explained that Indonesia’s poor population in 2022 will reach 26.11 million people. And most of them do not have a motorized vehicle, because they are only able to meet their primary needs.

“The Indonesian population, the poverty line in 2022 will reach 26.11 million people. But they don’t have a motor vehicle, so the allocation of subsidized fuel is generally not for them. This means that the subsidies issued by the government are to subsidize the wealthy in Indonesia, not the poor,” he concluded.
