There are many prayers that can be used to open or close an assembly. The following are some of the opening and closing prayers for the assembly that can be read:
1. The Opening Prayer of the Assembly during the Recitation
Recitation is an event that is often held by Muslims as an effort to increase and maintain faith. When going to start the recitation, an ustad who fills a lecture will usually read the assembly’s opening prayer in front of the congregation. The following is the reading of the assembly’s opening prayer during the recitation:
Alhamdulillahilladzi an’amanaa bini’matil iimaan wal Islam. Wanusholii wanusalimu ‘alaa khoril anam sayyidinaa muhammadin wa’alaa alihi wasohbihi ajma’iina.
“Praise be to the Almighty who has given the best of blessings in the form of faith and Islam. My prayers and prayers for safety are always bestowed upon the Great Prophet Muhammad SAW along with his family and all of the Prophet’s companions.”
2. The Opening Prayer of the Assembly at an Official Event
In addition to the recitation, official events should also be opened with prayer readings. Usually someone is assigned to read and lead prayers for the guests in attendance to follow. The following is the reading of the assembly’s opening prayer during an official event that is easy to memorize:
Alhamdulillahi rabbil ‘aalamiin, wash-sholaatu wassalaamu ‘ala asyrofil anbiyaa-i walmursaliin, wa’alaaalihi washohbihii ajma’iin ammaba’adu.
“Praise be to the Almighty, Lord of the Worlds. May peace and blessings always be upon the noblest Prophet and Messenger, his family and companions.”
