Merdeka.com – Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said the construction of public transportation could save fuel from private vehicles worth tens of trillions. He hopes that more people will switch to public transportation.

“With more and more people switching from private vehicles to mass transportation, we can save tens of trillions (of costs) BBM). Hopefully this MRT will be the pride of all of us,” said Budi while attending the MRT 202 Groundbreaking Contract Package (CP) event Jakarta Phase 2A and the Re-opening of the Old Town Area, Saturday (10/9) night.

Budi said that the MRT phase 2A (South-North corridor) construction will continue to Ancol, North Jakarta. In addition, MRT construction will also be built up to the East-West corridor as Phase 3.

He emphasized that the government will continue to consistently build mass transportation that can connect tourist attractions. MRT Phase 2A will pass through historical heritage areas which are also tourist destinations, one of which is in the Kota Tua area, Jakarta Kota.

“I support the reopening of the Kota Tua area by the DKI provincial government which will later provide added value to the presence of the MRT. By passing the MRT, it is hoped that the Kota Tua area will become a favorite tourist destination for the community,” he said.

According to him, the sustainability of MRT development in Jakarta cannot be separated from good collaboration between the central government, local governments, and also cooperation with the Japanese government which has assisted in financing the MRT project.

As is known, the Harmoni-Mangga Besar MRT line is part of the Phase 2A MRT project, which stretches 6.3 km from Thamrin to Jakarta Kota, which passes through seven underground stations, namely Thamrin-Monas-Harmoni-Sawah Besar-Mangga Besar-Glodok. -City.

The construction of MRT Phase 2A is divided into three packages, namely CP 201, CP 202, and CP 203. For Phase 2A, CP 202 stretches for 1.8 Km through three underground stations, namely Harmoni-Sawah Besar-Mangga Besar Station. It is projected that the entire MRT Phase 2A construction can be completed by 2028.
