Merdeka.com – A country needs to be prepared to face a crisis situation whose arrival is unpredictable. Thus, an integrated supervision (surveillance system) is needed so that when a crisis strikes, especially with regard to health, the country is ready.

“It is very important that every country must have surveillance to detect, prevent and respond quickly to public health problems,” said Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin virtually when opening the International Workshop on Emerging Diseases, Tuesday (13/9).

Budi believes that integrated surveillance will be able to detect, prevent and respond quickly to a crisis. Including cases of Covid-19 transmission.

According to him, there are a number of strategies to have an integrated surveillance system. Among them is through the ability of genome sequencing with collaboration and cross-country communication.

The next step is to invest in health professionals. Because the quality of health workers is very important, especially managing infectious diseases that arise in locations with very limited resources.

For that, he really hopes that there will be cooperation between countries when facing a crisis. So that various resources available around the world can be activated.
