Merdeka.com – Earthquake A magnitude 5.0 rocked the Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra, Wednesday (21/9). The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that earthquake occurred at around 5:25 p.m.

The epicenter of the earthquake was 144 kilometers northwest of the Mentawai Islands or 10 kilometers deep. The location of the earthquake was at 1.17 south latitude-98.57 east longitude.

BMKG stated that the earthquake did not have the potential for a tsunami. [gil]
