Merdeka.com – One of the eight gangs of robbers on the Palembang-Indralaya Sumatra Cross Road was arrested police. Other perpetrators were asked to surrender immediately before being given strict action.
The perpetrators who were arrested were FT (20), a resident of Ibul Besar III Village, Pemulutan District, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra. The perpetrators act with their gang in front of the Karya Jaya Terminal, Palembang, Sunday (14/6).
The Head of Polsek Pemulutan AKP Herry Yusman said the perpetrators were deliberately waiting for their prey at the crime scene when the streets were quiet. When there were victims passing by, they stopped them with sharp weapons and firearms.
“This herd acts in the early hours of the morning, they are looking for prey who drive alone,” said Herry, Monday (25/7).
At the time of the incident, the victim was driving a pickup from Palembang to Indralaya. They forced the car window to open and took two cellphones worth Rp. 5 million, Sunday (24/7) in the morning.
After receiving a report after the incident, the police immediately went to the scene. Officers still found several perpetrators around the location and only secured one of them, while the others quickly fled.
“The suspect was hanging around the crime scene after the incident, we moved and carried out raids,” he said.
For his actions, the suspect FT was charged with Article 365 of the Criminal Code with a threat of seven years in prison. Evidence was confiscated, one unit of the victim’s cellphone and Rp200 thousand in cash.
