Merdeka.com – The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) reported that it had received a request for protection filed by the wife of the Head of the Propam Division, Inspector General Ferdy Sambo, regarding the alleged abuse case by Brigadier J, which resulted in a shootout.
Deputy Chairperson of LPSK Edwin Partogi Pasaribu said that the application letter had been submitted about a week since the shooting incident occurred on Friday (8/7).
“When was the 14 (Thursday) yesterday, the submission. Indeed, since Tuesday (12/7) we have been proactive, yes. On Monday (11/7) the news first appeared,” said Edwin when confirmed merdeka.comSaturday (16/7).
Edwin said that before the application letter was submitted, his party had already coordinated with the Metro Police Chief Jakarta South, Kombes Budhi Herdi Susianto, including the Head of the Propam Division, Inspector General of Police Ferdy Sambo.
“On Tuesday, we have proactively coordinated with the South Jakarta Police Chief. On Wednesday, we also met with the Head of the Propam Division, Ferdy Sambo,” he said.
After that, Edwin explained that LPSK is currently reviewing the application to validate it using four aspects that will be taken into consideration.
First, whether the information from the applicant’s side has an important nature to reveal the case; secondly look at whether there is a potential threat experienced by this applicant; the third look at the medical and psychological situation of the applicant whether there are injuries, trauma they have experienced.
“Regarding the injury or trauma, we have an initial assessment to get an assessment from a doctor or psychiatrist what kind of confectionery is needed in the future,” he explained.
Although there is no exact date yet, said Edwin, the LPSK will only respond to the application so that later it will be decided whether the application will be accepted or rejected in order to be given protection.
“So the nature is still a request, the protection will be the results of the study which we will convey at the LPSK meeting. Now the LPSK leadership will decide whether to accept or reject the application,” he said.
Meanwhile, regarding the possibility that Brigadier J’s family also provided protection, Edwin did not rule out this. The reason is, LPSK is open to applications submitted to anyone.
“We are actually open to anyone, LPSK protection to apply to LPSK. So anyone who has something to do with criminal acts and feels that they need protection can indeed apply to LPSK,” he said.
“So the law regulates it like that, if the protection is given based on the submission of an application. So it is impossible for us to provide protection without an application,” he added.
