Government Spokesperson Says There Are Still Provinces That Haven’t Formed a Task Force, Even though they are in the PMK Red Zone

Suara.com – Government Spokesperson for Handling Mouth and Nail Disease (PMK) Prof. Wiku Adisasmito revealed that there are still a number of areas that are infected with mouth and nail disease (PMK) but have not yet formed a task force (task) to deal with it. There are even some areas that have entered the PMK red zone and have not yet formed a task force.

Wiku said that the area whose regencies/cities including the provincial level had formed a task force was Central Java. In addition to these provinces, there are the provinces of Aceh, Riau Islands, Jambi, Bali and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) which some of the regencies/cities have formed PMK Task Force.

However, Wiku noted that there are still areas that have not yet formed a PMK Task Force.

“There are still areas that have recorded PMK cases that have not fully formed a PMK task force both at the provincial and district/city levels,” Wiku said in a press conference broadcast via the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube, Tuesday (26/7/2022).

The areas in question are North Sumatra, Lampung, West Kalimantan, Banten and the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). The region has not yet established a PMK Task Force at the district/city and provincial levels.

Even though the area is included in the red zone category. Meanwhile, Bangka Belitung, which is in the yellow zone, has not yet formed a PMK Task Force for the district/city level.

“While the West Java Province which is a red zone, the formation of a new task force is carried out at the district / city level, precisely in Garut Regency,” he said.

Wiku said that it was necessary to pay attention to areas especially those affected by the PMK case that had not yet formed a PMK Task Force, such as West Sumatra and Central Kalimantan.

Due to this situation, Wiku encouraged the local government to immediately form a PMK task force as an effort to accelerate the handling of the livestock infectious disease.

“Even though we are currently in an emergency situation and the formation of the task force is an important step in controlling the outbreak,” he said.

“Therefore, we emphasize to the provincial and district/city governments whose territories are confirmed to be infected with PMK and have not yet formed a PMK task force to immediately establish a task force as an effort to accelerate the handling of PMK.”
