Merdeka.com – CyberRes, Micro Focus Business Line, in its annual report said that Indonesia must be careful of cyber attacks targeting the energy industry. At least for the next 12 months.
This year’s report estimates the energy sector as one of the most vulnerable industries in Indonesia. This is because Indonesia is the main target of attacks in the energy sector in 2021.
“Indonesia is also the target of the majority of groups of big threat actors, including Lazarus APT, APT 10, Conti, and Winnti Group,” said Jeffrey Neo, Managing Director, Southeast Asia & Korea, Micro Focus in a statement, Monday (19/9).
He continued, Indonesia is also not alone. Attacks on the energy sector in 2021 mostly targeted the United States, Russia, Qatar, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Pakistan, Australia, the Netherlands, Iran and India.
“The most affected sub-sectors are oil and gas, nuclear, pipelines, and natural gas. Most of the attacks were carried out by Energetic Bear, APT28, APT10 threat group, Lazarus, APT34, Maze, Fin7, FIN8, and MuddyWater,” he said.
Even so, according to him, the Southeast Asia region still has a great opportunity to reverse the situation, because it has been equipped with a good understanding of the current landscape, the application of tactics, to the threats that can arise.
“Countries in Southeast Asia are still recovering from the impact of last year’s cyberattacks, which caused long-lasting effects on all organizations and individuals. While this trend will continue into 2022,” he explained.
